The year 2024 has been intensive for us, be it in terms of international recognition as the National Champion of Finland by the prestigious Frontiers Planet Prize, or hard work on the long-term biochar field experiments in Helsinki, where we study the effects of nutrient enriched biochars on soil biota, chemistry or greenhouse gas emissions or yield formation and nutrient uptake of faba beans. Our team members have been working also with different recycled fertilizers as well as establishing the best practices for growing cranberries in Finland, and of course on recycling lake sediments to agriculture and using biochars in growing media mixtures for urban trees- or in drainage backfill filters. We celebrated our success with another series of winter meetings where our team members were presenting their updates, insights and received feedback for their work.
Our December winter meetings with the AgriChar research group were an incredible opportunity to reconnect and celebrate our progress. A huge thank you to all AgriChar members and partners for making 2024 an outstanding year!
As we take a well-deserved break for the winter holidays, let's recharge our spirits and get ready to tackle 2025 with unwavering enthusiasm!
Special shoutout to Philibert Henniaux and Guilhem Franque from UniLaSalle, who are heading back to France after a stellar internship.Merci mille fois!
